Janssen BioCork 2 wins CURT Project and Safety Excellence Awards

Congratulations to Janssen Sciences and the BioCork 2 project team.

BioCork 2 involved a $358m expansion of Janssen Sciences biopharma production plant in Ringaskiddy, County Cork. This state of the art facility will produce new immunology and oncology treatments developed by Janssen.

The 19,000 sq.m. BioCork 2 project almost doubled manufacturing space and capacity at the site. The facility incorporates largescale fed batch technology, the first of its kind in Ireland and globally for Johnson & Johnson.

“Bio Cork 2 was a fantastic team effort and we are delighted that this is being recognised with these awards", said Aidan Hennessy, PM Group Project Manager. “This significant achievement couldn’t have been realised without the dedication and determination of the whole team working as one.”

Breaking ground in 2017, the project was delivered on time and budget, with approx. four million working hours completed to a very high safety standard. At peak construction over 1,200 workers were one site.

This was a truly international project with a team of more than 40 nationalities collaborating closely with nearly 80 global vendors.

PM Group provided Master Planning, Permitting, A/E Design, Procurement, MEP support to the Sisk CM team, CQV, LEED AP and OTS services on the project.

The CURT Awards follow another recent prestigious win for BioCork 2 in ENR’s 2020 Global Project of the Year Awards (Healthcare category winner).
