About us - PM Group
Prioritizing innovation is critical to the way we do business and support our clients. Our annual Innovation In Action awards help us to continually imagine and create new innovations that make a difference and create lasting value.
Central to this year’s awards was the need to remove limitations and make tasks easier. Data and digital solutions played a key part in many of our winning innovations, including the Overall Winner 2021.
Overall Winner
Tyler Underhill has been named the Overall Winner of the 2021 PM Group Innovation in Action Award. Tyler, a Biologics and Cell / Gene Therapies SME in Boston, won the award for his innovation Automated Block Flow Diagram Generation.
So what is it about?
In our profession, there’s no getting away from long, highly detailed lists. They are a critical first step in many processes, helping to populate diagrams and other critical project delivery activity.
The problem?
Lists are generated on different systems and the data within may not be easily usable for the next step in the project delivery activity. Data often has to be manually extracted adding long hours to workflow.
The solution
“My idea involves an Add-In tool that everyone in the company could use to automatically generate visualisations from data and link them to other documents and systems. It will help streamline workflows, and ultimately help us deliver projects more efficiently,” said Tyler.
“I’ve had several ideas that I’ve submitted to this scheme during the last 6 years. I’m extremely happy to be the Overall Winner this time. It shows that everyone can have an idea that’s of value and it’s well worth entering!”
Andy Rayner, CTO/Director said; “Congratulations to Tyler on his win and thanks to everyone who submitted to the competition this year. The innovation In Action scheme continues to be a key component for the company to reward innovation and also to provide us with great ideas for the future.”
This years innovations included designing facilities around robotics and humans working together; and new systems and ways of working to improve effectiveness and accountability and health and safety.
“The standard of this year’s Category Winning entries was very high. I think we were all blown away by the level of creativity and also the practical application to solve real issues in the business,” said Dave Murphy, CEO.
“It is really exciting to see how innovation is now embedded in our culture and how recognizing Innovation through this Awards scheme has succeeded in promoting innovative thinking throughout the company.”
