Facilities of the Future - Keynote

Facility designs and technologies in the pharmaceutical industry are changing rapidly. Consequently, there are many facets to Facility of the Future. This session will focus on some novel approaches, technologies and considerations that impact a supplier’s shop-floor operations. We will also look at sustainable planning through energy simulations and multi-product manufacturing facilities.

CDMOs Panel discussion

Austin will also be taking part in the ‘CDMOs: Panel Discussion: Facility Design and Building in Sustainable Manufacturing’. Sharing the discussion will be distinguished speakers - Sam Williamson (BioNTech), Wallace Torres (Amgen), John Chen (WuXi Biologics) and Luca Mussati (Excyte).

The CDMO panel discussion will focus on key sustainability issues in facility design and operation. Topics include reducing embedded carbon in facilities, the impact of flexible design on embedded carbon and the role of cleanroom technology in cutting operational carbon. We’ll also discuss Scope 3 emissions in the supply chain, the use of Single-Use technologies and their effect on solid waste.

Aseptic Manufacturing & Annex1: Workshop 3.1

Flexible Facilities Design for Regulatory Compliance and Contamination Control Strategies.

Join us to explore the more robust, efficient ways to achieve regulatory compliance and develop a future contamination control strategy (CCS). We will focus on three key activities in the Concept Design Phase:

  1. GMP Design Approach
  2. Targeted Quality Risk Management
  3. Developing a future CCS

Attendees will hear case studies on design risk mitigation in flexible facilities, learn about these three activities, and reference relevant regulations. They will also have the chance to discuss and provide feedback on the proposed approach.

Austin Lock is Group Head of Technology and Technical Director, PM Group.
