Demonstrating your problem solving during interviews is a key piece of advice to graduates looking at chemical engineering careers.
Process Engineer Emma Claxton recently featured in IChemE’s latest video series, helping inspire the next generation of chemical engineers.
Emma is one of three recent graduates who have been sharing valuable insights regarding their own careers to date.
“I would say to any graduates looking for a role at the moment, less is more. It is good to look at your experience and what you are interested in”, said Emma with regard to applying for roles within chemical engineering.
Emma also advises that employers are not looking for word perfect answers during an interview. “They are looking for people they can work with. They are looking for you to problem solve and not just relay something you have learned off by heart.”
