PM Group provided architecture and engineering design services for Japanese automotive company Hirotec’s latest development in Geiselhöring, Baveria, Germany.

The project

The €70m manufacturing complex supplies parts for BMW’s plant in Dingolfing, Germany. The 16,800 sq.m. plant accommodates a press shop and manufacturing site for vehicle parts.

Fully automated assembly

The facility incorporates a fully automated assembly line serviced by 120 robots, along with a shipping area, offices and auxiliary space. PM Group services included feasibility study, basic and concept design and detailed design.

The project was delivered in close partnership with Takenaka, the Japanese General Contractor responsible for the construction phase for Hirotec. PM Group’s involvement began in November 2019 and was completed in October 2020. Construction commenced in Spring 2020 and was completed in 2021.

Design collaboration

The crucial design phase was executed during the extremely challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire design team overcame significant challenges to deliver the design project remotely, in close collaboration with multinational project partners working in different European and Japanese time zones. The designs, which were produced in Poland, were approved by our local German partner to meet German HOAI Architecture and Engineering Standards.
